The Evolve Eight Step System to Artistic Mastery

Every student in the Evolve program goes through the same process and gets the same results.
It doesn't matter if you have been drawing for years, or this is the first real program you are taking.
If your goal is realism we will show you how to get there.

Block 1
Values in Charcoal &
Proportional Drawing #1

In the first block you will start right at the beginning by learning to train your eyes to see values. Your hands will begin mastering the soft touch required to create realistic art.  The last part of this block will begin showing you how to draw anything you see.

Block 2
Proportional Drawing #2 &
Grayscale Oil Painting

In the second block you will continue to refine your drawing skills.  These techniques will give you the ability to draw or paint anything you see with razor sharp accuracy. You will also begin your first oil paintings to take what you've learned in Block 1 with charcoal to the next level.

Block 5
Vacant Shadows

In the fifth block you will learn the technique of Vacant Shadows to create both drawn and painted works.  This approach will take the knowledge you already have of light and shadow and provide a new technique that falls in line with the works of the old masters.

Block 6
Layer Painting / Speed Painting

The sixth block will introduce speed painting to you.  Speed painting is a layering technique that allows for lightning fast results built up over multiple layers. These techniques flawlessly translate into digital mediums.

Block 7
Puddling

In the seventh block you'll begin sculpting your paint with puddling.  These paintings are generally finished in one sitting and you'll learn a new technique for applying gradients.  This is another piece of the puzzle by learning new ways to control the brush.

Block 8
Hyper-Realistic Charcoal Drawing

In the eighth and final block you’ll jump back to charcoal and take your drawings to a whole other level with hyper-realism. These drawings will push your already masterful control of both oil and charcoal to an entirely new level by elevating your patience, attention to detail and confidence.

Why do Evolve Students
Create Such Stunning Artwork?

Unlike the unstructured curriculum provided at Art School, every student in the Evolve program goes through the same process and gets the same results.

It doesn't matter if you have been drawing for years, or this is the first real program you are taking, if your goal is realism we will show you how to get there.

Everything You Need
Each skill is learned in order, leading to artistic mastery

Say goodbye to expensive trips to the art store!

Each of the eight blocks is shipped to your home and includes all materials needed to complete each exercise. Evolve has partnered with the world's oldest and best paint manufacturer Old Holland so you will be using professional grade materials the entire way through.

Each exercise is presented in crystal clear video so you can follow along with Kevin as you complete each exercise in order.

1-on-1 Support and Critique
Guiding your work at each step to the highest level

Your experience with Evolve will be as close to the in-studio experience as possible, and part of that is having a mentor to look over your work at each critical step to make sure your work is matching the standard needed to reach the goal of creating fully realistic artwork by the end of the program.

But don't worry, the exercises have been designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of where you are starting from.

If you have a desire to learn and can sign your name in pencil, you have all the skills necessary.

Work at Your Own Pace
Evolve is designed to fit into even the busiest schedule

The suggested pace for completing the program is five hours per week, which includes both watching the instruction and doing the exercises.

At this pace, each block will take approximately three months to complete, and the entire Evolve program from block one to eight will take two years.

The structure of the program means that you can work faster or slower to suit your pace, and you will always have access to the videos and instruction.

NOTE: Currently the first block is available and the rest of the blocks will be made available as they are filmed and edited. Our expected schedule of future blocks will be to release a new block every 3 months.

Can Anyone Really Achieve These Results?

Countless students have successfully been through the program, and yet most people are skeptical of these results.
Here is a video from online art mentor Mitch Bowler who was skeptical at first, and came to see the student work for himself.

100% Money Back Guarantee
If you complete all of the exercises in the entire block and are unable to achieve the results presented in each block we will give you a 100% refund.

*Because of shipping and material costs, to receive your refund you must work through and complete all of the exercises in the block you have purchased to be eligible to claim a refund.

Begin Your Journey to Creating Head-Turning Art
Included in Block 1

This first block will lay the foundation for everything that you do as you progress through Evolve. You will learn to slow down and strive for perfection in everything you do while developing your artistic eye at the same time.

If you've studied art before the first block will be like nothing you have seen before.

If you're new to art, you'll be in the best of hands.

The simple exercises raise the difficulty gradually while each fundamental principle is internalized not only by seeing but by following along and actually doing.

  •  Professional Tools: 24 black charcoal pencils, 24 white charcoal pencils, 15 different pre-printed exercise sheets on high quality artist paper, 11 reference photographs, and 5 blank practice sheets.
  •  Video Instruction: Every technique filmed in high quality with crystal clear explanations of each technique.
  •  Feedback & Support: Over 40 different check-in points where your homework will be reviewed and feedback given before you progress to the next unit.
  •  Private Facebook Group: Interact with your fellow students and watch as they progress through the exercises along with you.
  •  Access to Future Blocks: Blocks must be completed in order to ensure you have the proper education to utilize what is taught in future blocks.
  •  Lock in the Introductory Pricing: As this is the second class of Evolve, it is also being offered at the lowest price it will ever be.  As some of the first students, your price per block will stay the same throughout the entire program.

Testimonials From Evolve Students

"There is no way I could be doing this well without your course. I love it and it is a lifesaver for me. I can’t believe I hesitated to sign up for it at first, but it seemed too good to be true. I would never push myself this hard alone and I love the accountability that this course offers. You said in your welcome video that your students were like a family. I feel it, thank you."

Janette, USA
"The exercises are mindblowing. I never thought I could draw scenery like this so easily. Thank you!"

Michelle, Switzerland
"I appreciate the thoughtfulness Kevin puts into the teaching as it really makes the concepts easy to grasp. His comments have really resonated with me."

Michael, USA
"I am very impressed! What a wonderful concept. It’s more affordable than a college course, instructor interactive and not particularly time restrictive. All pluses for busy students (and especially merciful for a nearly 70-year-old art student)."

Kathy, USA
"The system isn't magic. What you're joining is a well thought out, meticulously planned program that emphasizes on deliberate practice. That means every time you take a lesson and do an assignment there is a clear goal, with each step bringing you closer to being able to draw and paint photo realistic pieces. The program funnels your hard work into accelerated results. So if you're looking for a program that rewards every hour you put in and you've always wanted to draw and paint photo-realistic pieces, there isn't anything else out there like this!"

Frequently Asked Questions
Will there be one on one replies if you get stuck?

Yes. Your work will be checked and feedback given at each step of the way during each block. These checkins are especially important during the first block when students learn the foundation for the technique that is the basis for the amazing work students create.

In the first three-month block, there are over 40 different assessment points where you will receive feedback so we can make sure your technique is perfect before you progress forward. This may sound like a lot, but these checkins are necessary to ensure your work hits the highest quality you are capable of.  Once the students have grasped the initial concepts and started to become confident with the method we see them picking up speed as they move through the assignments.

Will there be interactive chats?

We’re working on a Facebook group for students so you can see how your classmates are progressing.   Past graduates of the full Evolve program taught inside the studio will also come in from time to time but the bulk of the interaction will happen during your check-ins and feedback.

Will you ship internationally and will there be additional costs?

We will ship internationally and currently have students in 17 different countries including: Germany, Singapore, Japan, Australia, England, Sweden, Croatia, USA, Canada and many more.

The cost of shipping is included with your block, so there are no additional fees you need to worry about.

Is this really possible?  It seems too good to be true!

We hear this all the time, however, we believe anyone who wants to learn can be taught to create realistic art.  What is most often missing is proper education, and our program gives you the clear steps to follow, in the proper order which leads to mastery.

If you believe that you have a special reason that would prevent you from getting the same results as our other students (EG: shaky hands) please reach out to us at [email protected] so we can assess your particular situation.

Can I use my own art tools to save money?

You need to use the same tools as are used in the video so that you will achieve the same outstanding results.  This also helps us to troubleshoot any issues you are having with the techniques because we know these materials inside and out, and want you to start right from the beginning using professional materials.

How is the program delivered?

First, a physical box containing your art making materials will be delivered to your doorstep.  Once you have your box you will also be added to the online learning portal which contains all of the videos and assignments.

The videos are all pre-recorded which means you can watch them whenever you like, from wherever you are in the world.  Then when you reach the assignments you are given clear instruction and once finished you will photograph your work, and upload it to be reviewed by your instructor.  Homework is turned around in 24 hours Monday to Friday so you can continue the next day.

On Holidays and the odd rare occurrence there may be slight delays in homework, but not more than 48 hours.  There is also a group chat area where students can virtually meet, help each other out and common questions answered.

Click the image below for a short video for what to look for in a sharpener, lamp, and box.  Don not worry if you can't find the exact materials. What is important is that you have a way to sharpen your pencils, and to create a shadow box (which will be covered in the course)

What about nudity?  Is Evolve family friendly?

There are no assignments or videos throughout the entire course that have nudity in them.

Evolve is family friendly and the minimum recommended age is 12 years old.  That said, it will be helpful if there is an adult to assist with any language needing explanation.

The Facebook group is unmoderated, so if there is a concern about what may be posted, you can make the decision to join the group or not.  You will not be missing any educational elements by not participating on Facebook as all instruction and feedback is handled outside of Facebook.

Will it be done in payments, so the cost isn’t all at once?

Yes, the whole program is broken up into blocks, and each block is priced at $400.  This price is only being offered to our second group of students.

If money is an issue, we suggest saving up $100 per month, and then join the program once you have the full amount. If you are in high school and yet working and earning money then we suggest asking a parent to take a look at the program and help you to take this program.

Please keep in mind that all material and feedback costs are included with each block. As Evolve progresses the retail cost of the art supplies will be worth almost as much as each block. Everything is purchased in bulk and we pass these savings on to you.

Compared to other options, the education, materials, and mentorship you are getting is a steal in comparison.  If you have had a dream of being a realistic artist and are willing to put in the work, this is absolutely the course you have been looking for.

Will this course cover how to sell your art?

Yes, but this is not the main focus of the course.  We’ll include this in an interview style approach where I will go over how I have broken down barriers, built a reputation, and what I advise my students in the studio to do.

Drawn portrait commissions will be added at the end of the fourth block when you learn to do hyper real drawings.  The reason for this is that if you start trying to jump into commissions too quickly, the likelihood of messing up your education is very real.
Once you have learned and are able to create the hyper realistic drawings the quality of your results at this point will be exceptional and the work will speak for itself.

Will working realistically affect my creativity?

It shouldn't affect creativity, and when you have developed the confidence that comes from going through the Evolve program, you may find yourself taking even more creative risks because of your mastery of the medium.

I have a lot of chemical intolerances, and I’m wondering - will you be offering an alternative to oil painting?

Good news here, our supplies do not use any chemicals and is all organic.  It’s made with oil and pigment.  The medium used is pure oil, and the brushes you will use can be cleaned with regular soap.

None of the paints contain heavy metals.  There are no cadmiums or leads.  We specifically chose our materials so that the Evolve can be enjoyed by anyone.  There are no toxic materials in the box.

I love this, but I still want to study with the in-studio version of Evolve - is this possible?

Space is very limited in the New Jersey studio, however if you can find an open space and move to New Jersey it is possible to study with Kevin.  Please keep in mind that the Evolve home-study program at the introductory price is less than 50% of the cost of studying inside the studio, plus all of your materials are included as well, which in the studio there are extra fees for paint.

The instruction and feedback are the same both in the studio and in the home-study program.

I can’t signup now - will there be different terms or times to sign up?

The course will be available again in the future, but the pricing will likely increase to handle additional staff to meet the high demand for learning realistic drawing and painting skills. By signing up now you will be locking in the current price per block for the entire course and you will not have to wait until we re-open the course in the future.

Where can I find the extra materials in my country?
